A Warning about the Experts

Has it ever occurred to you that the experts ie., scientists and researchers and all those types are just as human as you and I. Our society has raised science on a pedestal and some worship it like a god. But I think we all need to be a little more skeptical of these titans of modern society. Remember they need to make money too. Big research projects can't be funded without ... well, funds!

I was spurned to write this piece because of the research that was just completed on Sugar and artificial sweeteners. Specifically zero-calorie saccharine sugar replacements. An article from Canada.com explained that Purdue University Psychlogists reported that "'The data clearly indicate that consuming a food sweetened with no-calorie saccharin can lead to greater body-weight gain and adiposity (fat tissue) than would consuming the same food sweetened with a high-calorie sugar.'" AAAHHHH! How could this be our faith is crushed! We have been poisoning ourselves while trying to cleanse ourselves. It's almost like one of those stories about the cults that make you drink the poison to reach the mothership. HA HAhahhha HA!?

Anyway this is a really interesting conclusion. Poor fat Rats! Anyway here is the link.

This goes to show that Diet pop tastes horrid for a reason. It is POISON. HAhahAhaahha HA! Well, I believe it (despite the argument I just made about experts) and I think that diet soda does make us FAT. Why do we not have more options. When we go to the restaurants or stores the soda pop is all or at least an overwhelming portion of what is available to drink. We need to invent more healthy drinks. I judge that soda pop companies are not much different then cigarette companies. Sip on that!

PS: Next time there is any talk about raising taxes on cigarettes, lets do it by placing a barcode on butts and charging an extra $.05 per ciggy. That way people will take care of them, or bums will have some more cash:)

Beware the O-Bomb

If you are not aware yet I must tell you that I am supporting Barack Obama in the Democrat Primary. I like the guy cause he is inexperienced. That's right! He is not the political sharks that Hillary and Cheney are. He is willing to work with Republicans to get something done. But most importantly his vision (which I know can not fully come to fruition) is one that gives Americans hope and brings us together rather then driving us apart. Hillary can not do this. But McCain has a descent chance at at least inspiring the Independents.

I believe that Clinton's momentum is slowing while Barack has revved up. After Super Fat Tuesday the US knows that the Dem candidates are both viable. Nearly tied in delegates Barack continues to gather money while Clinton is borrowing from herself. Surely contributions come more often to the candidate that looks like the best investment.

Recent CNN poll and a separate Time poll asked how American's would vote between Clinton and McCain. The CNN poll found Clinton 50 McCain 47, with a 3 point margin of error. This margin means that the candidates are virtually tied. The Time poll found both candidates both holding 46 percent, tied.

On the contrary CNN's poll found Obama ahead of McCain by 8 points. That is five points over the margin and clearly a victory. The Time poll also found Obama with a lead, this time of 7 points. What this means to me is that Obama is pulling ahead.

The O-Bomb just recently won 3 more contests in Washington, Louisiana, Maine, and Nebraska as well as getting a victory in the US Virgin Islands. This means that Barack has won 18 states and 1070 delegates. Meanwhile Hillary is ahead of him in delegates with 1095 delegates and 13 states.

Now we need to win Wisconsin and Virginia! Good Luck O-Bomb:)

A Time for Connections

While recently listening to Terry Gross on Fresh Air, she interviewed Fred Kaplan about his book “Daydream Believers: How a Few Grand Ideas Wrecked Americas Power.” The following is a link to an excerpt and a recording of the interview.

I believe that Kaplan has some very good points, especially his points about how the attacks of September 11th have been painted. Weather or not the attacks were committed by Islamofascist’s the Administration used the event to bolster public support for an attack on Iraq.

Kaplan’s main point seems to advocate a shift away from massive military spending. Smart investment in troop’s rather then high price tagged weapons. I would agree that we definitely make a huge change in the way we spend or defense budget. Kaplan even mentions Bush’s $12.5 Billion budget (bigger then that of WWII?!) Eisenhower, a proud warrior saw what was coming. The Power of the Military Industrial Complex controls the State.

Anyway check out this article and interview and tell me what you think.
